DAY 1 | CAIRO - ALEXANDRIA
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast we will travel to the city of Alexandria on Egypt’s north coast. The port city located on the Mediterranean Sea was founded in 331 BC by Alexander the Great.
Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt and is best known for the Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos) one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Today we will visit theNational Museum. Other highlights includePompey’s Pillar, the Catacombs, and the New Bibliotheca. Our last stop is for aphoto at the Citadel of Qaitbay, a spectacular 15th century fortress overlooking the Mediterranean.Overnight at your hotel in Alexandria.
DAY 2 | ALEXANDRIA - EL ALAMEIN
Meals: Breakfast
Our journey takes us westward through the dunes along the Mediterranean coast, following the route of Field Marshal Montgomery to El Alamein. The coastal town was the site of two major battles between British and Axis forces during World War II.
Visit the Commonwealth War Cemetery associated with the Battle of El Alamein. The cemetery encompasses 7,367 tombs of war victims from Britain, New Zealand,
Australia, France, India and Malta. We’ll also stop to visit the El Alamein
Military Museum including five main halls (representing the countries that participated in the battle) and view the unique paintings of the war scenes. In the evening we’ll drive back to Cairo.

METROPOLITAN CAIRO
Cairo, Egypt’s sprawling capital, is set on the Nile River. At its heart is Tahrir Square and the vast Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities including royal mummies and gilded King Tutankhamun artifacts. Nearby, Giza is the site of the iconic pyramids and Great Sphinx, dating to the 26th century BC. In Gezira Island’s leafy Zamalek district, 187m Cairo Tower affords panoramic city views.
IDYLLIC ASWAN
Aswan, a city on the Nile River, has been southern Egypt’s strategic and commercial gateway since antiquity. It contains significant archaeological sites like the Philae temple complex, on Agilkia Island near the landmark Aswan Dam. Philae’s ruins include the columned Temple of Isis, dating to the 4th century B.C. Downriver, Elephantine Island holds the Temple of Khnum, from the Third Dynasty.
HISTORIC LUXOR
Luxor is a city in southern Egypt on the east bank of the Nile River. It stands on the site of ancient Thebes, the pharaohs' capital during the 16th and 11th centuries B.C. Today's city is surrounded by two massive, surviving ancient monuments: the graceful Luxor Temple and, a mile north, Karnak Temple. The Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens royal tombs are located on the river's west bank.
THE GREAT ALEXANDRIA
Alexandria is an Egyptian Mediterranean port city. It was home to a lighthouse that was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as well as a storied library, during the Hellenistic period. The library has been reborn as the disc-shaped, ultramodern Bibliotheca Alexandrina. There are also Greco-Roman ruins, old-world cafes, and sandy beaches in the city. Its seafront Qaitbay Citadel, built in the 15th century, is now a museum
