Race through history during the 6th edition of the Pyramids Half Marathon and spend a few days in Cairo to really explore the city. Visit the Giza Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, and Khan al-Khalili and so much more.

About thePyramids Half Marathon:

The Pyramids Half Marathon is organised by The TriFactory and takes place tentatively on Friday, November 1st 2024* at the Great Pyramids of Giza.

It includes three distances, 5K, 10K, & 21K, which makes it suitable for participants of all ages and abilities, including those who wish to walk instead of run. 

The Pyramids Half Marathon takes you up close and personal to the last remaining Ancient Wonder of the World. All three races will remain entirely within the Pyramids Complex, extending the amount of time runners can Race Through History alongside the Great Pyramids of Giza. The race course is fully pedestrianised and is staffed by The TriFactory event organisers and volunteers. The 5K course is fairly flat, while the 10K and 21K courses feature several rolling hills and inclines, including the long decline down to the Sphinx and resulting incline on the way back up towards the Finish Line.

Age Requirements for Race Participation:

5K: minimum 12 years, 10K: minimum 14 years, 21K: minimum 16 years

Arrival in Cairo where your journey starts. Overnight in Cairo.

SATURDAY 2ND OF NOV | CAIRO

Meals: Breakfast

Start with a visit to the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx before heading to the Egyptian Museum in Downtown. In the
afternoon, we visit the Citadel of Saladin, the Mosque of Mohammed Ali. Overnight in Cairo.

SUNDAY 3RD OF NOV | CAIRO - ASWAN

Meals: Lunch, Dinner


In the morning transfer to Cairo airport for the flight to Aswan, upon arrival you will visit the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple and enjoy a felucca ride around the Nile islands and the area around the Agha Khan
Mausoleum (the interior is closed).

Embarkation on board your Nile cruiser that will be your
tour base for the next 3 nights, then the boat will set sail for Kom Ombo where you will spend overnight aboard the boat. Overnight aboard the boat.

MONDAY 4TH OF NOV | CRUISE

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


The day will start with a visit to Kom Ombo, the Temple shared by the two gods Sobek and Haroeris. Afterwards, the boat will continue on to Edfu where you will visit the Temple of Horus and spend the night on board the boat.

 

TUESDAY 5TH OF NOV | CRUISE

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The day starts with the sail to Esna and the crossing of the lock in the river. Continue on to Luxor. In the afternoon you will visit Karnak and the Temple of Luxor. Overnight on board the boat.

 

WEDNESDAY 16TH OF NOV | CRUISE

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The day starts by a crossing to the West Bank followed by a visit to the Necropolis of Thebes, Valley of the Kings, The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Later you will be taken to the Luxor Airport for the short flight to Cairo. (Optionally, enjoy a Sunrise Balloon Ride over the Valley of the Kings).

THURSDAY 7TH OF NOV | LUXOR - CAIRO

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your final departure

All event managers, staff, and media personnel will wear masks.

After installation, all touchpoints will be thoroughly disinfected. 70% alcohol will be available before the start of every obstacles so that participants can disinfect their hands.

The Pyramids Half Marathon, including the Race Expo on the preceding two days, takes place entirely outdoors, ensuring effective social distancing and following international guidelines implemented following the COVID-19 pandemic.

70% alcohol will be available for sanitisation of hands and masks for those who wish to wear them although they are not mandatory, based on guidelines from Egypt's Ministry of Health.

The safety of every single participant is our number one priority. At the Start Line Zone and Finish Line Zone, and across the Race Course, there are ambulances provided by Alfa Medical Group and El Safa Hospitals, trained medical personnel, and senior doctors with significant experience covering running races and sports events.

The nearest hospitals, Al Haram Hospital and El Shorouk Hospital are on stand-by and ready to receive any runners who face any medical conditions before, during, or after the race.

The Pyramids Half Marathon is organised by The TriFactory, a fully-licensed sports event management company under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth & Sports, and the event also falls under the supervision of the Egyptian Athletics Federation, including all local and international standards are met when it comes to race organisation and health & safety standards.
